Frequently Asked Questions
What is CARB Cycling?
Carb Cycling is a FANCY term that describes eating LOWER carbohydrate macros 2 days each week, and then eating HIGHER carbohydrate macros 5 days each week. We “cycle” the carbohydrates in order to REAP the benefits of both a low carb diet and a higher in carb diet.
FASTer Way clients participate in carb cycling and this balance allows clients to effectively deplete glycogen stores to initiate fat burning while providing enough of the right fuel to support muscle building and reap the benefits of a higher carbohydrate intake, as well.
What are Macro Nutrients and how do we track them?
The body needs a certain amount of protein, fat and carbohydrate grams each day and by encouraging clients to track macronutrients in the foods they eat, we offer structure and guidance regarding how much to eat, while allowing for choice and autonomy in which foods the client would like to eat. This is a superior, long-term strategy to traditional calorie counting, or simply providing a list of “allowed foods” or a rigid prescribed meal plan because the client learns how to eat to their unique and individualized needs under any circumstance.
In less complicated terms, we teach YOU how to count macros by simply teaching YOU how to track protein, fat, and carbohydrate grams each day.
What is Intermittent FASTing?
Intermittent fasting describes an eating schedule by which limits are put around the time spent in a “fed” or “feeding state” and time spent in a “fast” or “fasting state”. When the body is in a fasted state it burns fat for fuel instead of glucose, the most broken down form of carbohydrates. When cells shift from using glucose as a primary fuel source to using fat, we see health benefits. Experts suggest the shift may occur as early as 10 hours, and usually between a window of 10 to 16 hours, after not eating, while others suggest the metabolism change is more pronounced after 18 hours of fasting.
In the FASTer Way to Fat Loss, We focus on a fasting schedule that ranges between 12-16 hours. Clients with different HEALTH concerns MAY need an adjusted schedule. YOUR certified coach will help YOU with all of this.
What is WHOLE FOOD nutrition?
Whole-food nutrition is a blanket term that is used to describe foods in their more natural state. In general, whole foods are those that have few ingredients which are all easily pronounced and are minimally processed, modified, or refined and do not have added sugars or chemical additives.
In short, we focus on foods that come FROM THE GROUND or HAVE A MOTHER.
